Nate's action-packed Monday

Another round of rice cereal:
Nate's not wasting any time...He pulled himself all the way up with straight legs!

He figured out how to sit in his crib today. I wonder if he will turn into a monkey like my brother who climbed out of his crib to watch cartoons.
Helping with the mail:

This "side sit" turned into a real sitting position later in the day:
playing with the Santa slippers from Bo:

Crawling practice:

Nate's all ready for Stroller Strides. We did lots of running during this class so he was asleep by the end of it.:

Thanksgiving in Bend, Oregon

We had a fun time visiting Aunt Janet, Uncle Keith, Lexi and Logan in Oregon this Thanksgiving. Aunt Judy, Uncle Bob, Hunter, Paul, Grandma Illeman, my parents, and my brother were all able to fly out too. This was Nate's first trip on a plane and it went pretty smoothly....only one crying session landing in Portland. Overall, Nate loved all of the action and adventure.

Nate napped for much of the flight. I think it was that loud... SHHHHHHH from the plane.

One last cuddle before we get on the plane

driving back to Portland to catch our flight. We took a detour up to the Mt. Hood ski resort.

See you next time, Nate

Puppies

My aunt, uncle, and cousins in Oregon have several new puppies due to another dog sneaking onto their property. I wish they could keep them, they are so cute!

crawling

He didn't take long figuring out this new skill!

This is a typical diaper change lately. I even had to take the cover off of the changing pad because he kept ripping it off.

I was making silly faces at Nate:

Happy 5 months, Nate.

Nate's latest and greatest....

He's on all fours rocking back and forth since last week! How long from now do we have until he's crawling?

We think his weight is leveling off since he's been so active so he is probably in the 90th percentile now. More people are saying they see "me" in him now, before most people said he looked like Dave. It's amazing how babies change (and so quickly)!

He's working on his "pinchers" so we are having to watch him more closely to make sure small things don't make it to his mouth.

Naps are short and rare during the day lately so when he finally goes down I am more than grateful to have a break! Sleep is okay at night but he's still waking 1 or 2 times. I think it's because he's been more active so he is needing more calories and he's been more distracted to eat during the day. He is up bright and early at 5:15 ready to PLAY!! Wow, I am tired just thinking about it.

He will probably start rice cereal soon but since we have a history of allergies on both sides of the family we are trying to hold off on introducing anything else just yet. It will be fun to see him eat fun stuff though. There is a former chef in my mommy and baby group and she is going to teach us all about making baby-food in a couple of weeks.

Nate is definitly becoming more fun and interactive but, boy, is he going to keep us busy when he starts crawling....... What fun!

Believe me, we don't try to cook every night anymore but we attempt a nice dinner at least on Sunday nights. Here are a few pictures from our most recent dinners. Dave has been making some nice braised meats.

happy

We went out to a bar to watch the Texas Tech game and Nate collapsed in my arms because he was so exhausted.

I love how he slept with his butt in the air this day.
