Diapers in the toilet

hmm, how'd these get in there? Nate disappeared around the corner and got very quiet. In a matter of seconds he stuffed the toilet full of diapers. I guess he was trying to see if they would all fit.

Stone Brewery

I hosted an outing with the Carlsbad mom's and tots group last Sunday. We went to Stone with the guys for some relaxation in the gardens.

"I'd like this one, please"

Faces

I wasn't quite thinking I would get this reaction from trying to get my beer back. Nate likes the sound his teeth make on the glass. Notice Sadie eyeing it as well.

We play this game a lot when Nate goes out the dog door and looks back inside.

Who needs a vacuum when you have Sadie. She loves Nate's cereal.

Wagon

Ever since I saw a cool all terrain Radio Flyer wagon in Newport Beach a few months ago, I have been OBSESSED with getting one for Nate. Finally, I found the perfect one! I never would have guessed it would come in a MILLION pieces that I would have to put together (with my little tool kit Jason got me when I went to college...haha, thanks Jas...yes, I still have it! by the way, Dave would have done it but he was at work when it arrived and I couldn't wait.)

NOT FUN!

FUN!!!!!
We can now haul Nate and his friends, Nate and the beach toys, cooler, etc.... YAY!

Nate ran off when I was cooking in the kitchen and I found him around the corner in a flower pot. I had set them all out earlier to take pictures to sell on Craigslist. He needed help getting out... lol! After that, he grabbed my hand and wanted me to get in the pot!!!!!

Nate was very pleasant after his 2 hour nap. such a cutie.

Nate at the zoo- 1st time

This morning, Loretta, Oliver, Nathan, and I went to the zoo.

Oliver and Nathan... "ok, lets go!!"

Nate was a little nervous seeing the otter, but very interested. He held onto Loretta and I for reassurance.

Some of Nate's favorite things right now.... post-it notes, putting shoes on my feet, climbing, dogs, cats, bunnies, taking everything out of drawers and putting a couple of things back, escaping outside (via dog door), trying to put the leash on Sadie and then "walking" her (poor dog), imitating funny sounds we make....
Nathan and I had our first real beach day on Monday.

he followed his ball around everywhere

playing with his stacking cups

he enjoyed experiencing the water go in and out. it was a bit chilly though, so he didn't want to get too wet.

checking out the kelp

yeah, I know the shorts are a bit big (so they last through the summer :-) )

Miles and Nate this morning at Isabelle's coffee shop. This is a great french cafe that has lots of baby toys on their patio.... perfect!

We spent Sunday afternoon at Ofelia Winery in Escondido. Nate was trying to be included in the kid's game of "Mother May I"?

1st sign

Nate did his first sign a few days ago! It's the sign for "more" but he does it when he wants food. We've been teaching him "more" and "food" together so it's cute that he got the signs confused. It's so exciting that he is suddenly learning to associate meanings with words and gestures. It is going to make our lives a little easier knowing what he wants.

Texas

Dave, Nate, and I traveled to Houston for a whirlwind of a visit this past weekend. We celebrated my dad's birthday with a surprise party, met Jason's fiance, Naomi, and took an overnight trip to Austin to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. Whew, it went fast but we had a blast!
Nate loved my mom's bunny, Bugs. He called it "dah" which is what he calls all animals
(probably from us saying "dog" so much but he can't quite say the "g" sound yet).

Nate needed a little guidance back to the car

Jason joined us for some margaritas before heading off to the Astro's game.

We stayed at this hotel in Austin....

....not this one. The person that designed this sign must have had a sense of humor

Nate was the youngest guest

Outside of my parent's house. I think he was a little overwhelmed with all of the ducks.

We convinced Dad to get out the potato gun. This might be the last opportunity since I don't think the residents downtown will appreciate it as much

watch out!

Got ya! Happy birthday!

We went to Liz, Taggart, and Carmen's house to have breakfast. They have a beautiful dog!

they both wanted the high chair

The crawfish festival got rained out so we went out to it eat instead

too much partying

same for Nate

Mom and Dad's place is just about finished!

This is our first time meeting Naomi. We had a great time eating brunch, chatting, and enjoying the view from the 50th floor downtown
